Conventional Mortgage Loans

Piggyback Mortgages
A piggyback mortgage can help you avoid private mortgage insurance (PMI) if you’re not making the required 20% down payment. This is the second component of a “combo” or “80-10-10” loan package that closes simultaneously with the first loan. Usually, the first loan is for 80 percent of the home’s value, and the second mortgage (the piggyback) is for 10 percent. You pay the remaining 10% as a down payment.
